Frequently Asked Questions

What is a ghost?
A ghost is someone who’s physical body has died but their spirit hasn’t yet crossed to the light, which we call Heaven. Some call them earthbound spirits. By failing to cross into the light, they become “stuck” between two worlds.

What are some signs that I might have a ghost?
Every ghost is different, which makes no list entirely complete. But here are some common signs of a ghost:
- Unexplained footsteps or knocking
- Objects disappearing then reappearing
- Your alarm clock, stereo, or television turning on/off by itself
- Doors slamming by themselves
- Unexplained tapping sounds
- Quality light bulbs that repeatedly need replacing
- Blinking light bulbs
- Feeling like someone is sitting on the bed
- Unmistakable odor without an identifiable source
- Feeling of being watched in certain rooms
- Feeling of being pinned or paralyzed in bed
- Unexplained cold spots
- Seeing dark shadows
- Seeing something out of the corner of your eye but nothing there when you look directly at it

Why doesn’t a ghost cross into the light?
There are many reasons why a ghost might not cross into the light. Some are afraid of who they’ll meet there (like an abusive parent). Others don’t want to leave the home they loved and tended to for so many years. And some feel strongly it wasn’t their time to go and simply refuse to cross out of pure stubborness. And there are the few who are afraid to cross over for
fear they’ll be sent to hell for their sins.

What is a haunting?
A haunting refers to a location where repeated ghost(s) sightings occur, often by the same ghost(s).  A haunting is often witnessed by numerous people.

What if the ghost doesn’t leave?
Just like us, ghosts have free will.  And despite our best effort, we may not convince them to cross over.  Even so, they still have to respect your boundaries.  Remember our analogy with the uninvited neighbor?  Same rules apply....you may not convince them to return home, but they don't have to stay with you

Can a ghost hurt me?
Lynda's experiences with ghosts date back to her childhood and over the years nothing has ever hurt her, although a few ghosts have made themselves known through physical contact.  She has also personally experienced a demon (a very rare event), though she was not physically harmed during the encounter (emotionally, maybe, but not physically).

But isn’t psychic stuff evil?
Although some religions would have you believe such, we disagree.  In our book, helping others is never evil.  And what better honor is there than crossing stuck souls into Heaven?   Although America is a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to accepting psychic ability, psychic work is embraced by many cultures all over the world.

But my house isn’t very old!
Ghosts don’t care. We have seen ghosts in modest 30 year-old homes and fancy 10 year-old homes. There is no spiritual law that says ghosts have to reside in 100+ year-old homes. Although ghosts tend to be creatures of habit, they can and do move.  Sometimes a ghost will attach themself to someone with whom s/he shares something in common.  We call these ghosts "hitchhikers."

Can an object be haunted?
Yes, sort of.  While the object itself is not haunted, it can have a ghost attached.  That beautiful antique chair may be a bargain for a reason.

Is it true some people like living with a ghost?
Yes.  For business owners, it is a great marketing attraction.  For homeowners, some ghosts can be protective and helpful and for others they can alleviate loneliness.  Some homeowners don't want their ghost crossed, they just want help understanding the situation.

Why do addicts attract ghosts?

Addictions not only alter one's mind, it also alters one's aura and makes an addict highly vulnerable to ghosts (especially those who suffered an addiction while alive).

Do cleansing ceremonies really work?

Yes, as good energy will always carry more power than negative energy.  The problem occurs when people expect the ceremonial tool to hold all the power (salt, incense, a cross).

The most successful ceremonies occur when the participants use their own inner power, and not put all their faith and stock into a tool.  We personally have tried smuding, salt, incense, crosses above the doorframes, etc, but have found that none of these hold any more power than the inner power we are born with.  Having said that, if a certain tool helps a participant feel more courage or strength, then we believe it is useful to that participant.

Does this mean that people really don’t die?

Exactly. Your physical body dies but your spirit lives on.  This is supported by Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity (e = mc2) in which energy does not end, it merely changes form.  And, based upon our experiences with ghosts and spirits, we wholeheartedly agree with Albert Einstein.

Basic Terms

Cleansing:
The act of ridding a home or business of ghosts or negative energy.

Debunker:
A debunker is someone who has obviously never experienced a ghost and they want hard core evidence of same.  Ignorance is bliss, right?

Demon:
A low-level entity that egotistically feels it is more powerful than the homeowner. A true demon is very rare.

Energy:
A frequency or vibration. Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity (e=mc2) states that energy never dies, it merely transfers into something else. This supports the theory that when a human dies, its spirit lives on.

EVP:
Electronic voice phenomena. Unexplained communication captured on audio or video recorders by investigative groups.

Faith:
Trust and confidence in one’s belief.

Ghost:
A ghost is a spirit who has not yet crossed into Heaven or the Other Side.

Free will:
Free will is a universal gift that allows us to choose how we wish to behave.  We are held accountable for our behavior through what is known as karma.  Interfering with another's free will can inadvertently have a negative effect as it may rob someone of an opportunity to learn a valuable lesson (children not included, of course).

Ghost Mover:
A ghost mover is an experienced psychic medium who works in conjunction with ghost hunters. They try to document scientific evidence together before the psychic medium coaches the ghost to the other side.

Ghost Hunter:
A ghost hunter is a person who has a strong interest in documenting scientific evidence that ghosts really do exist.  A ghost mover can also be a ghost hunter, but a ghost hunter isn't necessarily a ghost mover.

Grounding:
Grounding is simply stabilizing one’s own energy. Grounding is also used to discharge excess energy and any energy that isn't our own. Grounding is very important to a good psychic medium. It is also quite helpful to the average person especially when they feel frightened or anxious.

Negative Entities:
A negative entity is best described as a "being" with negative energy. Although negative entities can be quite nasty, they aren’t true demons. They have never been humans, and thus are not classified as a ghost.

Orb:
An unexplained ball of light seen in photos.  Its popularity as "proof" of spiritual activity is waning as many orbs can be physically explained (i.e. dust), and thus has become an easy target for debunkers.

Portal:
Commonly thought of as a gateway that enables spirits/ghosts/entities to travel between dimensions.

Psychic:
Also known as a “sensitive,” a psychic is a person gifted in extraordinary perception. Psychics possess a variety of gifts including the ability to feel another person’s emotions, see auras, pick up information when holding an object, communicate with spirits and ghosts, scan a body for diseases, etc.

Psychic Energy:
The ability to accomplish tasks by manipulating energy with one’s mind. Prayers are a common form of sending positive energy to a loved one.  Psychic mediums use psychic energy to "clear" a room of negative energy.

Psychic Medium:
A psychic medium is a person gifted with the ability to communicate with spirits. All mediums are psychics, but not all psychics are mediums.

Sage:
Sage is the herb burned in cleansing ceremonies to remove negative energy. Called “smudging,” this technique is a tool used in many native cultures.

Spirit:
A spirit is a soul who has crossed into the light. Spirits enjoy checking in on their family, especially during family celebrations such as birthday parties, graduations, etc. Sometimes they might even attempt to let you know they are joining in the fun by briefly blinking the lights or sending you a waft of their favorite perfume.

Spirit Guides:
Often referred to as guardian angels, spirit guides are wonderful helpers who come to your assistance when asked. Although most people can’t see or hear them, spirit guides interact with us daily. For example, they enjoy inspiring you when you feel creative, and often are the “hunch” you acted on which proved to be beneficial. They are always there for us and are happy to help.
